Our mission

Our philosophy

Cayreles is a project for the dissemination of anonymous musical repertoire with a gender perspective. It is defined by the vindication of oral tradition as a source for the reconstruction of heritage.

Since its beginning it has opted for artistic excellence and interdisciplinarity. To achieve this, in the creation of its shows it has had the participation of the 2D artist Jon Munarriz, the composer Unai Urkola and the actress and stage director Irene Serrano.

What are our shows like?

On an artistic level, we focus on bringing the Renaissance repertoire to the non-specialized public. With this objective, we combine musical interpretation with other artistic languages such as audiovisual, performance, text or object theater.

Our style

Cayreles is an emerging artistic group that reinterprets the Renaissance repertoire of the Christian kingdoms. To do this, we combine the study of original sources with the use of elements from the different peninsular oral traditions and other non-musical artistic disciplines.

The dissemination is one of the main axes of the development of our shows, in this way we manage to bring this repertoire closer to the non-specialized public. On the other hand, percussion is the starting point of our artistic proposal. In this instrument oral tradition, documentation, literature, theater and dance come together. Our recreation of the repertoire explores the different roles of percussion within this music, which has allowed us to consolidate a our own sound

We are a multidisciplinary team of artists for whom this group is a place of meeting and research. A context in which to carry out transdisciplinary artistic creations.
